Your customer journey
Together we turn your data chaos into an actionable view of your product’s environmental impact. Our work can be broken down in three buckets.
Kick-off meeting
Our collaboration begins with a one-hour kick-off meeting on Day 1, where we meet your team members from tech, data, production, and sustainability to ensure a complete understanding of your product and data infrastructure.
Data parsing
Our data scientists analyze your data infrastructure, clean, parse and normalize your data, so it can be used by our platform. Specific questions are addressed about your product taxonomy, and data storage, and possible automated connections are explored.
Building live connector
We build a connector to your information systems to automatically retrieve data on products, materials and purchase orders.
First footprint estimation
After 2-5 weeks, the first carbon footprint estimate is provided. You gain access to the Carbonfact platform, where you can track the products retrieved, completed, and measured.
Fill data gaps
Thanks to our proprietary heuristics and LCA database access, we can provide you with an approximate footprint measurement for each of your products, even when primary data is incomplete.
Identify hotspots
By Week 5, you'll have an initial overview of the products, suppliers and materials with the most significant impact on your carbon footprint, helping us identify key focus areas.
Gather more data
This part usually takes between 4 to 8 weeks, depending on how quickly your suppliers get back to us with additional data.
Increasing the accuracy
As we collect new data points on your suppliers and materials, and update our LCA engine, we reduce the uncertainty in your footprint measurements.
Reduction strategies
Starting from Week 10, this stage is dedicated to the development and implementation of reduction strategies and simulation.
What-if simulations
Utilizing our sophisticated simulation tools, you are empowered to run "what-if" scenarios at the catalog level.
Compliant reporting
Generate custom reports to meet your specific reporting needs, such as the GHG Protocol.
Product eco-design
Make changes to the materials, suppliers, and components within the tool to get valuable insights into the potential carbon impact of different decisions at the product level.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find your answers here. More questions? - Reach out to us via the chat.
What data is needed for the LCA engine to compute footprints?
Carbonfact requires specific data points related to your products to compute environmental footprints. This can include product taxonomy, weight, material composition, supplier information, and more. The data can be shared through static files like Excel or via a live connection to your data warehouse, PLM, or FTP server.
How can I provide new data to Carbonfact?
You can provide data through a live connection to a database, or by providing static exports like Excel files. A live connection is preferred for real-time insights.
What's the process for setting up a live data connection?
Setting up a live connection may begin with sharing static files. The optimal setup includes providing access to tables in your database like PLM, ERP, or data warehouses like Snowflake or Google BigQuery. Carbonfact can build a dedicated connector to your data. Read more about data ingestion here.
What if I don't have all the required data?
It's okay if you don't have everything at first. Carbonfact will do its best to fill in the gaps and provide analytics to help you prioritize your data collection process. Read more about our Data Augmentation Rules here.
How does Carbonfact handle data normalization and organization?
Carbonfact builds a dedicated connector to your data and uses normalization logic, heuristic rules, and machine learning to organize your data according to the internal data model called the Carbonverse.
How does the Reduce phase help lower carbon emissions?
The Reduce phase helps you model and simulate product-level changes to your overall carbon trajectory. Starting from Week 10, you can work on reduction strategies and simulations, using tools that allow you to run what-if scenarios and visualize the carbon impact of changes to materials and components. For example, we support with tailor-made strategies based on your material basket, purchased orders on seasonal/collection, and we identify the hotspot supplies with higher energy use and plan strategies for energy efficiency and reduction.
What does the onboarding process involve?
Our personalized onboarding process involves a dedicated team of data scientists and engineers working closely with your tech, data, production, and sustainability teams to consolidate and collect all available primary data. We also clean, parse, and build a custom connector to all your systems. Read more about our onboarding services here.
